The God of Small but Great Things

Jai jawan, Jai kishan

anthema he gave,

Just to honour people who work

and who are brave.

No armor of ego

no titles of pride,

Truth his anchor

Conscience his guide.

A man of the soil

simple and slight,

he walked along his words

with quiet but might strides.

The man a beautiful verse

of a life so grand,

The gentlest leader to fly

without undue and unnecessary sound.

Ruled not by power

but strength of his soul,

With spotless devotion

to feel us Indians complete and whole.
